236 messages		OK, all of this is very nice. But I have a question :
In this case the use of a DS Linker as the possibility to use an Oric emulator cannot be considered as piracy, but some other uses (let us not be blind) of a DS Linker is illegal.

Thus the question is : is the use of a linker is illegal ? According to Nintendo, yes, since it would violate several pendings... But on the other hand it is the use of the device in such or such context that is illegal or not (as of the use of a CD-ROM, that can be illegal for the music copy or not, for simple archiving of files or homebrew music).

Anyway, the problem is that Nintendo has engaged some pursuits against linkers vendors, and for the moment, we should consider that to buy or use a linker is not legal (damned) :

If i am right, Frelon is 100% assembly code and iworks better on Oric Atmos (even if it is supposed to work on Oric 1)


About the legality of Linker :

- It seems legal as far as the companies that provide them pay some royalties for the patents (because those linkers are using some patented portions of code).

More over, it seems that Nintendo has approved for commercialization, one of those devices, have a look here :

waskol for your precision about legal problems with Nintendo
perhaps the best thing is to ask them the question about linker

things seems going in the wright way after money negociations

if the DS can become more powerfull, it's also their interets !

Legal note: DSOric is Homebrew software and don't use any Nintendo library.
                      Homebrew and Emulation are software thats made using free and legal tools to play on games consoles.

395 messages		euphoric use already Oric-Roms and has no probleme, i think emulation is a great thing , without her, all those computer would be dead and forgotten

using old roms don't make loose money to nobody

can you tell us exactly what you need:

- of course a DS
- a linker (which one ?)
- a memory card (which choice ?)
- DSOric.nds

is it OK ?
